Secretariat
How we work
Member-led priorities, supported by technical collaboration.
Set direction
Members' High-Level and Executive Meetings define strategic priorities, guide the Open Coalition's work plan and advance joint milestones.
Develop together
Working Groups bring members, observers and experts together to exchange experience and prepare technical inputs and recommendations.
Coordinate and connect
The Secretariat engages and coordinates expertise, progress and communication among members and supports engagement with relevant international initiatives.

The Secretariat supports the functioning of the Open Coalition and helps translate expertise to strategic decisions to implementation, through three complementary divisions:
Administrative Desk
Provides the operational and administrative backbone of the Open Coalition, organising meetings and events, helping ensure the Secretariat has the resources and systems needed to deliver in accordance with the Open Coalition's mandate.
Technical Guidance Desk
Supports the Coalition's technical work and the activities of its Working Groups. It develops and provides analytical and technical guidance, and recommendations for Executive and High-Level Meetings.
External Coordination Desk
Leads engagement with prospective partners, cooperation with observer organisations, other international initiatives and processes for technical delivery, promoting coherence and effectiveness with view to advancing the objectives of the Open Coalition.
The virtual secretariat is funded by the Ministry of Finance of Brazil, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China, and the European Union with support of the EU Climate Dialogues 2 (EUCDs 2) Programme, implemented by GIZ.
